Signs You Should Schedule an Appointment with a Plandome Manor, NY Power Washing Professional
Your home is your castle, and you take great pride in its appearance; not only the interior, but the exterior, as well. Curb appeal is so important, as it not only affects the overall look and feel of your Nassau County house, but it also has a direct impact on the value of your property. A professional power washing company can help to restore and maintain the curb appeal of your house, as they can remove caked-on dirt, debris, and grime from outdoor surfaces. But how do you know when you should schedule an appointment with a Plandome Manor, NY power washing company? If you notice any of the following signs, it’s time to consider looking for power washing companies near you.
Dirty Siding
Are green, brown, or gray streaks or patches dripping down or covering your siding? If so, then you should definitely start searching for power washing companies near you. If the discoloration is green or grayish in color, it could be mold or mildew; if it’s brownish, it’s probably dirt and mud. Either way, you’ll definitely want to have it cleaned off.
Mold and mildew are more pressing issues, as these living organisms can do more than just make your Nassau County home look dingy; they can actually do serious damage. Because they’re living organisms, mold and mildew will eat through the surface of the siding, as well as the underlying building materials. If left unchecked, the structural integrity of your house could become compromised. Dirt and mud aren’t as serious; however, they can certainly detract from your curb appeal.
A Discolored Roof
Take a look at your roof. Do you see any green spots growing on the shingles? If so, you’ll want to call a Plandome Manor, NY power washing professional as soon as possible, as those spots you’re seeing are probably moss, mold, and/or mildew.
The roof is one of the most important parts of your Nassau County home, as it protects the interior from the elements. Because it’s constantly exposed to such harsh conditions, including moisture, extreme temperatures, dirt and debris, and the sun’s UV rays, a roof is particularly prone to moss, mold, and mildew growth. Just like when these organisms grow on siding, as they feed on the roofing materials, they can leave serious damage in their wake; shingles curl and become loose, and they can even create holes. Of course, in addition to the extensive damage and costly repairs that mold, moss, and mildew growth can do to a roof, they negatively impact the look of your home, too.
To avoid the risk of serious damage and costly repairs, and to preserve the curb appeal of your Nassau County home, as soon as you see any discoloration on your roof, start looking for power washing companies near you.
Stained and Dirt-Covered Driveway and Walkway
Driveways and walkways are used on a constant basis. Vehicles drive over and are parked on the driveway, and of course, people walk across the walkways; they’re constantly exposed to the elements, too. Because they see so much traffic and since they’re under such extreme conditions, driveways and walkways experience a lot of wear and tear and can become dirty, dingy, and stained.
If your driveways and walkways are covered with built-up dirt, caked-on debris, and oil stains will negatively impact the visual appeal of your Nassau County house. Even more concerning, they can become slick underfoot, and can potentially turn these high-traffic areas into a serious hazard. To restore the look and safety of these outdoor structures, get in touch with a Plandome Manor, NY power washing professional as soon as you notice your driveway and/or walkways are covered with dirt and stains.
Higher Energy Bills
The signs that your home could use a good power washing aren’t always visible. There are other signs that you should be on the lookout for, too; your utility bills, for example. If your energy bills seem to be a lot higher than they normally are, believe it or not, dirt and debris buildup on the exterior surfaces of your Nassau County home could be to blame. How? Well, if your roof and siding are coated with a thick film of mildew and/or caked-on dirt and debris, maintaining a consistent temperature indoors can be tough. To keep you and your family comfortable, your HVAC system will have to work overtime, and the harder the system works, the more energy it will use – and of course, the more energy it uses, the higher your utility bills will be.
If utility expenses seem to be much higher than usual and you aren’t using your heating or air conditioning any more than usual, having a Plandome Manor, NY power washing company clean the roof and siding might help to reduce the expense – and improve the comfort of your Nassau County home.

Plandome Manor is a village in Nassau County, on the North Shore of Long Island, in New York, United States. The majority of the village is considered part of the Greater Manhasset area, which is anchored by Manhasset. The easternmost part of the village is more closely associated with Port Washington. The population was 872 at the 2010 census.
The Village of Plandome Manor incorporated in 1931. Like the villages of Plandome and Plandome Heights to its south, Plandome Manor derives its name from the Latin ‘Planus Domus’, meaning plain, or level home. The manor house of Matthias Nicoll who was an early mayor of New York City and among the first generation of the Nicoll family on Long Island, was a wood frame home built in the 1670s, and one of the first homesteads in this area of Cow Neck, the namesake of the Cow Neck Peninsula (also known as the Manhasset/Port Washington Peninsula). The manor itself was torn down in 1998 and replaced with another estate.
Author Frances H. Burnett, author of The Secret Garden, built her home, Fairseat, in Plandome Park in 1908, and lived there until her death in 1924. Burnett’s son, Vivian, and his wife Constance, had erected a home nearby on Bayview Road after their marriage. Following Frances Burnett’s death, her nephew, publisher Archer P. Fahnestock moved into Fairseat, but the home burned down leaving only the stucco carriage house and garden intact. In 1940, Fahnestock sold it to Leroy Grumman.
