Key Features to Look for in a Farmingdale, NY Roof Cleaning Company

Of all the elements of your Nassau County home, the roof is arguably the most important. As the first line of defense against the elements, the roof plays a vital role in protecting the interior of your house, and it has a direct impact on your comfort. It affects the curb appeal of your property, too. Because it’s so important, maintaining the structural integrity and the appearance of your roof is extremely important.

Since the structure is constantly exposed to the elements (moisture, extreme temperatures, the harsh UV rays of the sun, dirt, debris, etc.), a roof takes a serious beating. Over time, it can become discolored and stains can develop. Even more concerning, organisms, such as algae, moss, and mold can begin to grow, which can lead to serious issues that require costly repairs, if left unchecked.

Because it’s so important, making sure that your roof remains in tip-top condition is a must. Investing in professional Farmingdale, NY roof cleaning services is one of the best ways you can maintain the appearance and the structural integrity of your roof. Finding a company that offers roof cleaning services isn’t hard; just search “roof cleaning near me” online and you’ll find several different options to choose from. You don’t want to choose the first company you find, however; do your due diligence and investigate a few different companies.

Here’s a look at some key factors to consider when you’re looking for a reliable professional that offers roof cleaning near you.

A Valid License and Insurance Coverage

Before you hire a company that offers roof cleaning near you, make sure that they’re fully licensed and insured. Not only does a license confirm that the company has received the training that’s necessary to safely and effectively clean roofs, but it also shows that they’re compliant with local regulations, as roof cleaning companies need to be licensed in order to provide services in Nassau County. In addition to a license, roof cleaners also have to be insured. They need to have liability coverage, and if they employ a team, they will also need to have workers’ compensation insurance. If anything goes wrong – they damage your property or a worker falls off your roof and sustains an injury, for example – the roof cleaning company will cover any repairs or medical care that may be needed.

Don’t just ask professionals that offer roof cleaning near you if they’re licensed and insured; ask to see proof and confirm the validity of both. A credible Farmingdale, NY roof cleaning contractor will gladly share this information with you.

Experience

Because the roof is such a vital part of your house, you don’t want to hire just anyone to clean it; you want to make sure that you find someone who has ample knowledge and experience. Roof cleaning is much more complex than it seems. It requires specialized tools, equipment, techniques, and strategies. While a company that’s just started out may be able to provide reliable results, you don’t want to leave anything to chance. Instead, your best bet is to hire a well-established company that has been serving the Nassau County community for at least a few years. The longer a Farmingdale, NY roof cleaning contractor has been in business, the more hands-on experience they’ll have, and they will bring that experience to your project. Additionally, if the company has a long-standing history, that’s a good indication that they offer reliable results, otherwise, they wouldn’t be around for long.

Samples

In order to get a good idea of the kind of results you can expect, be sure to ask each of the companies that offer roof cleaning near you if they can provide you with samples. A reliable Farmingdale, NY roof cleaning professional will share a portfolio of before-and-after pictures of their work, or they may even provide a free demonstration so that you can see, first-hand, how they will approach your project and the quality of their work. If any of the companies you speak with aren’t willing to share samples of their work, consider that a red flag and cross them off your list, as you don’t want to hire a company unless you’re confident that they will be able to deliver the results that you’re expecting.

References

Make sure to ask each of the Farmingdale, NY roof cleaning contractors you speak with if they can provide you with a list of references. Take the time to get in touch with at least some of their references and inquire about the services they had done, whether or not they were happy with the result the company delivered, and if they would recommend using the company. If any of the contractors you speak with won’t provide references, or if they do but you can’t get in touch with them, that’s a cause for concern and you should be leery about hiring them.

Some information about Farmingdale, NY

Farmingdale is an incorporated village on Long Island within the Town of Oyster Bay in Nassau County, New York, United States. The population was 8,189 as of the 2010 Census.

The first European settler in the area was Thomas Powell, who arrived in 1687. On October 18, 1695, he purchased a 15-square-mile (39 km2) tract of land from three Native American tribes. This is known as the Bethpage Purchase and includes what is now Farmingdale, as well as Bethpage, Melville, North Massapequa, Old Bethpage, Plainedge, and Plainview. One of two houses he built in the area (circa 1738) still stands on Merritts Road in Farmingdale.

In the 1830s, anticipating construction of the Long Island Rail Road (LIRR), land developer Ambrose George purchased a large tract of land between a community then known as Bethpage and an area in Suffolk County known as Hardscrabble. He built a general store in the western part of this property which he named Farmingdale. When the LIRR started service to the area in October 1841,it used the name Farmingdale for its latest stop, here, on the line it was building to Greenport. Stagecoaches took people from the Farmingdale station to Islip, Babylon, Patchogue, Oyster Bay South, and West Neck (Huntington area).

In 1886 a fire department was organized. The of Farmingdale was incorporated in 1904. In 1912, the State Agricultural and Technical school was established. The Lenox Hills Country Club, an 18-hole private golf course designed by Devereux Emmet, was developed north of the community in 1923 and was owned and operated by Benjamin F. Yoakum. This golf course was purchased by the State of New York, was greatly expanded, and then re-opened as Bethpage State Park in 1932, with much of the golf design work carried out by golf architect A.W. Tillinghast, later inducted into the World Golf Hall of Fame. The original 1920s era Lenox Hills subdivision and later adjacent subdivisions, located between the Bethpage State Park golf courses and the Long Island Railroad trackage, encompassing rolling hills and a wide boulevard, are known as the more upscale part of Farmingdale Village. Later, Farmingdale became a locus for the aircraft industry, notably Republic Aviation Company.
