The Benefits of Professional Roof Washing Services for Your Oyster Bay, NY Home
As the first line of defense against the elements, the roof is arguably one of the most important features of your Nassau County home. It protects your house and everything inside of it – including your family and your belongings – from the wind, rain, sleet, snow, extreme temperatures, and the UV rays of the sun. It also prevents dirt, debris, and pests from getting into your home. Needless to say, the roof is pretty important, but because it’s exposed to such harsh conditions on a constant basis, in order to ensure that it continues to provide the protection it’s supposed to, it has to be properly maintained. Regular roof washing from a reputable professional is an essential part of that maintenance.
Here’s a look at some of the top reasons why hiring a professional Oyster Bay, NY roof cleaning company is one of the best investments you can make for your Nassau County home.
Preventative Maintenance
The average roof can last for up to 25 years; however, in order to last that long, it needs to be maintained. Regular roof washing services performed by a reputable Oyster Bay, NY roof cleaning company is one of the best ways to keep a roof in tip-top condition.
Dirt, debris, and the spores from living organisms and plants, such as mold, moss, and mildew, accumulate on a roof on a constant basis. If left unchecked, all of that gunk will pile up, and eventually, could damage your Nassau County roof. For instance, moss spores can take hold, sprout, and spread across the entire surface of your roof, which can cause a whole host of serious issues and costly repairs, including complete replacement. Not only will regular roof washing prevent the problems that could be associated with debris buildup, but it can also identify underlying issues; for example, any damage, such as loose shingles, cracks, or holes, can be identified, and you can make arrangements to have those problems repaired before they cause more serious damage.
In short, having a Oyster Bay, NY roof cleaning company clean your roof on a regular basis will help to preserve and extend the life expectancy of the structure.
Pest Prevention
If the thought of critters crawling across your roof and burrowing into your Nassau County home gives you the heebie-jeebies, then you’re definitely going to want to invest in regular roof washing services. Twigs, leaves, pine needles, acorns; lots of debris can accumulate on a roof. Plantlife, such as moss and mildew, can grow on the structure, too. Various types of pests are attracted to the buildup of organic matter, such as wood-boring insects (termites, carpenter ants, etc.), squirrels, mice, and even rats and raccoons! As those pests crawl across your roof, these pests can cause serious damage; for instance, they can rip and tear shingles, and loosen granules, making your roof less effective, and increasing the risk of moisture damage. Plus, those pests can also make their way inside your Nassau County house, which can result in a whole host of additional problems.
In order to make your roof less appealing to pests, investing in roof washing services from a reputable Oyster Bay, NY roof cleaning professional is an absolute must. A professional will remove the accumulation of organic matter, which will help to keep insects and critters at bay.
Enhanced Curb Appeal
You take great pride in your home, and you want it to be as visually appealing as possible. The roof has a huge impact on the curb appeal of your Nassau County house. If the roof is covered with piles of dirt and debris, it’s speckled with stains, or it’s coated with a blanket of moss and mold, the overall curb appeal of your property is going to suffer. When your curb appeal is lackluster, dingy, and just appears to be uncared for, it gives the impression that the inside of your house is messy and unkempt, too. By investing in regular roof washing services from a reputable Oyster Bay, NY roof cleaning company, not only will your roof look great, but the curb appeal of your entire home will look great, too!
Cost Savings
You might be under the impression that professional roof washing services are an unnecessary expense; however, you’ll be surprised to find that having the structure cleaned by a Oyster Bay, NY roof cleaning company will actually end up saving you money in the long run. Why? Well, because roof washing can help to prevent unnecessary damages, and can reveal minor damages so that you can have them repaired before they become worse. Additionally, roof washing will help to keep pest infestations, and all of the issues that they can cause, at bay. Furthermore, regular roof cleaning will help to improve the energy efficiency of your Nassau County home, which will cut down on your heating and cooling expenses. All of these factors combined mean that having your roof professionally cleaned on a regular basis can help to save you a substantial amount of money in the long run.

The Town of Oyster Bay is the easternmost of the three towns which make up Nassau County, New York, in the United States. Part of the New York metropolitan area, it is the only town in Nassau County to extend from the North Shore to the South Shore of Long Island. As of the 2010 census, it had a population of 293,214.
Succeeding cultures of indigenous peoples had lived in the area for thousands of years. At the time of European contact, the Lenape (Delaware) nation inhabited western Long Island. By 1600 the band inhabiting the local area was called the Matinecock after their location, but they were Lenape people.
Following European colonization, the area became part of the colony of New Netherland. In 1639, the Dutch West India Company made its first purchase of land on Long Island from the local Native Americans. The English also had colonies on Long Island at this time. The Dutch did not dispute English claims to what is now Suffolk County, but when settlers from New England arrived in (present-day) Oyster Bay in 1640, they were soon arrested as part of a boundary dispute. In 1643, Englishmen purchased land in the present-day town of Hempstead from the Indians that included land purchased by the Dutch in 1639. Nevertheless, in 1644, the Dutch director granted a patent for Hempstead to the English.
The Dutch also granted other English settlements in Flushing, Newtown, and Jamaica. In 1650, the Treaty of Hartford established a boundary between Dutch and English claims at ‘Oysterbay’, by which the Dutch meant present-day Cold Spring Harbor (to the east) and the English meant all of the water connected to present-day Oyster Bay Harbor. Meanwhile, the government of England came under the control of Oliver Cromwell as a republic, and smugglers took advantage of the unresolved border dispute. In 1653, English settlers made their first purchase of land in Oyster Bay from the local Matinecock tribe, though there were already some rogue English settlements there. For this purchase, the English settlers paid to the Native American Moheness (aka Assiapum), ‘six kettles, six fathoms of wampum, six hoes, six hatchets, three pairs of stockings, thirty awl-blades or muxes, twenty knives, three shirts and as much Peague as will amount to four pounds sterling.’ The monarchy was restored in England in 1660, and in 1664 King Charles gave Long Island (and much else) to his brother James, leading to the Dutch relinquishing control of all of New Amsterdam.
